I love my life!

What a wild week.

  • I’ll start with today. EIGHT PEOPLE GAVE THEIR LIVES TO CHRIST TODAY! If that doesn’t get you pumped up, I’m not sure you really understand what your own salvation really means.
  • Great feeling today at ROCK Church. I love the worship team, our tech teams, ushers, greeters, children’s ministry teams (they are doing some unbelievable things in Kid’s ROCK every week).
  • We did our announcement via video for the first time this week. Cut announcement time down from about 6-7 minutes each week to less than 3! AND they were more effective. Gotta love that.
  • Having to make some difficult decisions for the future of our church. I believe in where we are headed. The economy is affecting a lot of people.
  • Did you hear? Thanks to Rachel, Jen and I are going to Catalyst! I am so excited about how God is going to expand our vision through this event.
  • Today, my good friends Jeff, Daryl, Drew, Brad, Tiffany and the Lifepoint Crew tore it up on their last day at Myrtle Grove Middle School by baptizing 60 people in their service! I am proud of what God is doing through their church. Next week they will be at Ashley High School.
  • This last week, Gabriel scored the highest of anyone at Trask on the Reading and Vocabulary Testing. They couldn’t even give a grade level for his score. It simply read, “Post High School”. My boy is a genius! He must get that from his mom.
  • Adam scored his first regular season touchdown EVER yesterday! It was the last score of a 34-0 rout of the Titans! You can check out his winning run below.
  • Noah’s team was back in better form this week with him back in the middle linebacker position. He was out last week when they lost (I’m sure the two were not completely unrelated). Yesterday, our Cowboys beat the Bengals 7-0. Noah got 12 tackles and was on fire! Check out his pics below too.
  • I’m not sure where the boys get their athleticism either. That must come from Jen too. I’m not sure what they got from me. Still working on that one…

That’s it for now. This week is going to be another vision casting, life changing, history making week at ROCK Church.

What are you up to this week?

Where do I start?

I don’t even know where to start. I started this weekend as an Executive Pastor and after this morning I am now the senior pastor (but not at The ROCK). Let me give you a quick recap.

On Friday night, we kicked the weekend off with The ROCK’s Got Talent. I knew we had a lot of talent but we found a lot of new talent on Friday. I’ll post more pics in a few days.

Yesterday, Noah and Adam had their first football games of the season. Noah won 13-0 and he was an animal. Adam won 21-0 (sorry Daryl) and scored his first extra point ever!

Last night, our whole staff and their families had a cookout at Mom and Dad’s house. It was an amazing night as everyone gathered around Mom, Dad, Jen and me to pray for us.

This morning, I arrived at church as an associate pastor at The ROCK and left the senior pastor of ROCK CHURCH. Everyone will begin to see the name change work it’s way into church life around here. I’ll blog more over the next few days about the decision to refine our church name.

Carolyn did an amazing job on the new van wraps. It was such a blast to be able to unveil them today as a part of our 20th Anniversary Celebration. Thank you Carolyn for believing in the vision.

One of the things that really moved me this morning (there were a lot) was the video Carolyn put together. I believe the song says it all. He is the God of this city and we are going to let them know how much He loves them. So, I leave this video and the promise that I will try over the next few days to put this weekend into better words.

Butt whoopin’

Saturday was the first official practice for Coastal Pop Warner football and Noah got his butt kicked on the field. He had already spent the last few weeks in boot camp. But, he was not prepared for what happened that morning.

He had not hydrated like his coach told him. He did not eat properly the night before or the morning of and he paid dearly for it.

Noah’s coaches look to him as a leader on the field. On Saturday, he did not lead well. His best on the field was not good enough because he did not prepare adequately.

But, today is a new day and Noah will be ready. Today, he will bring it on the field. It’s payback time and tonight the field will receive the butt whoopin’. Today Noah will lead because that is who he is and he will be prepared.

What will you do today? Are you prepared?
