Let’s get political – part 3

Today I wrap up this series by telling you why your vote matters. There are millions (maybe billions) of people who wish they had a say in their government. The privilege to vote came at a high price as thousands of men and women gave their lives for this freedom. To cop out and just not vote is to dishonor that sacrifice.

Don’t just go and throw your vote away because you do not know what is going on. Educate yourself. Pray hard. Find out where the candidates stand on the issues that affect you. If you call yourself a Christ follower, you must set the Bible at the center of your decision. Then go stand in a very long line and vote.

Stop whining and complaining about the election. If we allow the horrible campaign tactics of the candidates to jade us, we all lose. Whatever you do, don’t stay home from the polls. Take your faith in God and His Word with you as you vote. Act like a true believer when standing in line. Hold your head up. Put that sticker on your shirt and proudly let people know that you exercised your right to vote.

Don’t belittle others who do not vote the same as you. An open dialogue is healthy. Tearing each other down makes us no better than the candidates. Not talking about our views isolates us.

I encourage leaders to lead by example. How will the people who follow you know where you are going unless you tell them.God put you in a place of leadership for times like this.

Once you have voted, why not come back here and tell us all who you voted for and why.

If you believe, prove it

“If you REALLY believe in the saving power of Jesus Christ then why in the world would you show up at church every single Sunday without a carload of people who need Him?” ~ Brad Cooper via Perry Noble

Jennifer Update – Day 7

It was so good to get Jen back home yesterday. There was a marked difference in her headache after only a few hours of receiving the steroids.

The boys were so glad to see her home and Sadie (Jen’s dog) was super excited to have mommy back.

The migraine is not yet gone completely and Jen still has some marked deficiencies in her right arm and hand. They are setting up Occupational Therapy to build her strength and coordination back up.

Helen Fuller has been arraigning meals for us. She’s just that awesome. Thanks Helen!

Christy Huff brought dinner to the hospital Wednesday night and it was the best thing I had eaten all week. I ate all of mine and half of Jen’s. Helen hooked us up last night with spaghetti pie. I’m glad she didn’t make this for us. I ate Helen’s food before football practice and then came back for seconds. It’s been less than 24 hours and the brownies she made are already gone!

Thank you all for continuing to pray for us. God has blessed us tremendously and Jennifer is getting better every day! We love you all.

Jennifer Update – Day 6

Just a quick post this morning to let everyone know WE’RE HEADED HOME! They changed up Jen’s meds last night and gave her a steroid. Within a few hours, she could tell a noticeable difference. Please be praying with us that the steroid they gave her will not completely crush her hopes at Olympic gold.

So, we are just waiting on the paperwork and then we are out of here. Thanks to all of you who have expressed your love, concern and prayers for us.

There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.

Jennifer Update – Day 5

Today marks day 7 for Jen’s migraine and day 5 in the hospital. The neurologist is still at a loss for how to stop Jen’s migraine. So, we are still in the hospital.

Waiting…

Praying…

It’s not easy watching Jen hurting. But, our faith is still strong. God is still her healer.

When I ran home last night, I took Jen’s iPhone with me and loaded up the song Healer from Hillsongs. It is a powerful song. Take a look at the story behind this song and then the live recording.

When I watch these videos and listen to this song, I realize that this is not as bad as it feels sometimes.

God is her healer. She is healing. We just haven’t seen it yet. Stay tuned…
