The (un)official pastor to Poison?

I read this morning that my good friend (though we’ve never met in person) Pete Wilson hung out with C.C. Deville from Poison the other night. I know, that one kind of freaked you out a bit. It’ll be OK. I promise.

Pete got an unusual pastoral request to meet CC backstage at their concert in Nashville to share some teachings, answer questions and such. Not too long ago, CC gave his life to Christ and everything is still new to him (and me too). So, Pete took his own entourage with him because that’s how you roll with rock stars.

Check out this video of their time at the concert.

You probably have a lot of questions. What all went on at the show? How could a pastor do this? What about…?

Let me leave you with this.

Matthew 9:10-13 (NLT)
10 Jesus is eating with “disreputable” sinners.
11 “When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?”
12 “When Jesus heard this he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor-sick people do.”
13 Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

Where would you refuse to go and talk about Jesus?

Congratulations CC! Way to go Pete and Happy Birthday!

At the risk of sounding obsessive

I know. I know. This makes the third post in a row about Mute Math. After this one, I won’t post about the guys again for a while. Before we headed down to catch the show yesterday, Abs called Israel up and got a photo pass so I could get my camera in. Thanks Israel!

I just don’t think it would be right to keep the pics to myself. So, here is a gallery for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!

Mute Math Matrix

I saw that Jeff also got some pretty good pics with his iPhone. Matthew may even share some of his iPhone pics with us too. Did you get any good ones? If so, leave us a comment so we can all enjoy.

Mute Math show last night

Last night, Mute Math was… amazing. Probably the best show ever. What I love about the band is that they give everything they have from the first notes of the show and never look back.

We know Paul from the days when Abbye traveled with Dony and Reba. I first met Darren and Greg at Cornerstone Church when Abbye was recording with Dony and Reba. Israel McGuire is the guy responsible for the captivating video wall behind the band. I love these guys.

After the show, we hung out for about 20 minutes with the guys remembering old times. We realized that the last time we had seen Paul was when our church burned seven years ago. His band at the time, Earthsuit, came to Wilmington to loan us their sound system to get us through our first post-fire Sunday. They then put on a free concert for our youth group.

I’ll post more pics and thoughts from the show later. Now I’m off to host Gabriel’s 12th birthday party.

Mute Math

Mute MathI bought tickets today for Jen and me to go see the Mute Math show at the HOB in Myrtle Beach on October 25th. It’s going to be a great show. Mathew, Abs, Megan, Christy and Kevin are all going too. If you want to go, they still have tickets available at Ticketmaster.

Funny how a $15 ticket ends up over $25 after all the “fees.”
Anyway, it’s going to be a great show…

I feel wonderful tonight…

So, Jennifer and I went to the Eric Clapton show at the RBC Center in Raleigh yesterday. I was able to get a few pics before they made me put the camera away.

Wonderful
Eric Clapton

It’s late in the evening; she’s wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, “Do I look all right?”
And I say, “Yes, you look wonderful tonight.”

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that’s walking around with me.
And then she asks me, “Do you feel all right?”
And I say, “Yes, I feel wonderful tonight.”

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don’t realize how much I love you.

It’s time to go home now and I’ve got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, “My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight.”
