I am undone
It may be the way the pain killers are affecting my ability to think clearly. But, it may also be how dramatically God changed my way of thinking.

4 Days in Nigeria
I was only in Nigeria for four days. But, I learned some very valuable lessons while there. Lesson #1, don’t fall in a sewage ditch.

All Access Live!
This past weekend was amazing! I can’t begin tell you how excited I am about the future of ROCK Church. Over the next few days, I will blog more about the things I shared yesterday at Vision Night.
But now, I and the ROCK Church staff are at the ARC All Access Conference at C3 Church. I am excited about our new partnership with ARC and their church planting network. The next three days are going to stretch us as leaders and help prepare us to take ROCK Church, as Ed Young says, “to a Hole ‘Nutha Level.” To go where God is leading us, we must grow as leaders. So, we have come ready to connect, learn and grow.
Want to join us? Then check out the live video feed beginning tonight at 6:30pm, tomorrow throughout the day and then Wednesday morning. Look for us in the crowd. We’ll be the ones learning to think more and more like Next Level Leaders. I think I’ll start using that to describe ROCK leaders… Next Level… Because that’s where we’re headed.

Give it away, Give it away, Give it away now!
Today we ended our Crazy Love series and it was a so much fun!
- We baptised six people while everyone sang Marvelous Light and cheered! It was awesome!
- Tyler rocked the rap for Solid Rock on a megaphone from a platform in the auditorium!
- At the end of worship at least four people responded to give their lives to Christ! That never gets old!
- We received our first Sunday Building Fund Offering. I can’t wait to see our building completely paid for.
- We gave away almost 350 lbs of meat to people in our church who have been negatively impacted by the economy. Organizations just do business. Families take care of each other. Thank you Sherwood & Barbara Miller for giving so generously to make this happen!
- Everybody in the service today left with an envelope with a secret mission. We removed every obstacle to keep people from seeing their world as the mission field. Inspiration without application is worthless! Each envelope had several micro missions ideas, money and an invitation card. Pick a mission, use the money to make it happen and then hand the recipient a card and say, “ROCK Church wants you to know that Jesus loves you!”
- No more excuses. No more games. No more worthless inspiration. It’s time to show Wilmington how much Jesus loves them!
- You read that right. Everyone left with money today! I can’t wait to hear the mission profile reports that come in.
- I believe in taking the role of ministry out of the “professional” hands and empowering everyone.
- AND… the new rockwilmington.com website went live on Friday. Carolyn did an amazing job on this site. I’ll blog more later. But, know this, we have some insanely talented people on our team. I can’t believe I get to work with them. Thank you Carolyn!
- I can’t believe I get to pastor such an amazing church!
- Now I’m gonna go crash Jeff’s party and cheer on the Lifepoint Crew.

Why methods must change
Why must methodologies change? Take a look at this.
We must not be a 20th century church in the 21st Century.
How do we reach a world that is expanding so fast? Thoughts?

What’s up?
This several days have been crazy fast and very productive. Let me try and recap for you.
- I have been asked by my good friend, Paige, to help with her American Express Member’s Project. You should go vote now. It’s free and could save the lives of thousands of children. Stay tuned for my little addition to the cause in a day or two.
- Adam’s team dominated on Saturday winning 30-0. Adam ran a 50+ yard touchdown to end the game. Wow!
- Noah’s team did not dominate on Saturday. They played hard but just did not come up with a win. Noah did play much better this week though. I’m proud of him.
- Sunday attendance was down because of Riverfest. I’ve said it a bazillion times that we are not in competition with other churches in Wilmington. We are on the same team. We are up against the world.
- Even with a lower attendance, people experienced God. People raised their hands acknowledging their need to give their lives to Christ.
- We are one week closer to having our sermon videos online.
- Yesterday was a hard message for me. I talked about who Holy Spirit is. I feel the need to help people understand who Holy Spirit is without watering down His power. I feel like it was a success because I delivered what Holy Spirit gave me.
- Next week, I am praying for an encounter with Holy Spirit like ROCK Church has never seen before. It’s going to be incredible. If you have been wondering where we are headed as a church, you want to be here. It will either answer your questions or give you more fodder for your cannon. Either way, you don’t want to miss it! I can’t wait!
- After church, we headed over to the Wilmington Life Chain event. We partnered with a ton of churches in a silent prayer vigil on behalf of the unborn. I love taking our boys and teaching them about this. We had 44 people from ROCK Church show up. Thank you all. I am proud of you!
- Later we had the whole family over for Don’s birthday and grilled burgers. It was a blast.
- About the time I finally relaxed last night, Jeff twittered that he wanted to catch the Steeler’s game. So, I jumped in the car to head across town and hang out. I am glad I did. It was good to hang out with a fellow senior pastor and talk shop and watch the game. Plus, the Steelers won!
- Now, I am wrapping everything up in the office to head out to Atlanta tomorrow for the Catalyst Conference. It’s going to be a great time and I can’t wait.
That’s it for now. Gotta jet. So, what was your weekend like?
