Water Baptism!

This Sunday, July 11th, we will have our next water baptism at ROCK Church in our 11am service. I can’t wait! It is going to be a blast!

If you have not been baptized in water since giving your life to Christ, I want to personally invite you to join us this Sunday. Want to know more about water baptism? You can download an information packet and register online at rockwilmington.com.

What’s holding you back? Isn’t it time you went public with your faith?

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
Romans 6:4 NLT

In The Fire

I hope you’ll join us this Sunday as we wrap up our series Truth AND Dare. It’s going to be powerful.

As I have been praying and studying the messages and dares given by Pastor Ron, my faith has been challenged big time! Then, I  read this on Bishop TD Jakes’ Blog:

It has been suggested that if you walk in the Spirit, you won’t have to contend with the fire. Real faith doesn’t mean you won’t go through the fire. Real faith simply means that when you pass through the fire, He will be with you… The presence of the Lord can turn a burning inferno into a walk in the park! The Bible says a fourth person was in the fire, and so the three Hebrews were able to walk around unharmed in it. (see Dan. 3)

Excerpt from Thought Of The Day: With Us In The Fire

Read the rest of his amazing post here.

That is exactly what I needed today. Anybody else feel like you are in the middle of a fire? Those Hebrew boys were not there because of sin. They were there because they lived righteously. That’s why three went in and then four hung out… in the fire.

Turn around. You just might see that God is there with you.

Livin’ On A Prayer

Today marks the halfway point of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. I don’t know about you, but I am loving the way the Bible is coming alive to me. I am feeling closer to God than ever before and more empowered to do His will.

Whatever you have chosen to fast, don’t give up! Don’t give in! We are not a weak generation who makes a commitment and does not follow through.

Yes, fasting is difficult. That’s why it’s called a spiritual discipline. If it were easy, it wouldn’t be hard. Yes, I know that’s deep. But, do you want something in your life that was easy to come by and did not cost you anything? NO!

Let’s dig in for the final stretch. Draw close to Father God. Dig into His Word.

Let’s finish strong. You can do it!

While we’re on the subject, I want to challenge everyone. Take a moment and leave me a comment about what God is doing in your life during this fast. I want to celebrate with you.

How do you react when life isn’t fair?

Chandler005

I shared briefly on Sunday about Pastor Matt Chandler from The Village Church. On Thanksgiving morning, his life changed dramatically. Instead of celebrating like everyone else, Matt had a seizure and was taken to the hospital. A few days later doctors discovered a 2″ tumor in his brain.

Take a few minutes and listen to his story

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last week and a half praying for Matt, his family and their church. I’ve also spent a lot of time thinking about how I would respond if it were me.

What about you? How do you think you would respond?

All about the numbers – Part 3

numbers

There are two more numbers that are absolutely crucial to who we are as at ROCK Church and why we do what we do. If we forget either one of these, we are doomed.

ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND – There are more than 100,000 in our community who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Think about that for a second. If every church in our city was filled to capacity this Sunday, there would still not be enough room for everyone. There are a lot of amazing churches in our city and we are not in competition with each other because we are all on the same team. When Lifepoint, PC3, Global River, Scott’s Hill Baptist, Life Community, Northside Baptist, First Baptist and every other church wins, we all win. There are over one hundred thousand people in our city who have a messed up perception of who God is and how much He loves them. I blame the church for focusing more on our wants and desires than on the lost and hurting in our city. Jesus came to save the world. Why should we not be about the same mission? Which brings me to the last number in this series…

ONE -  Why do we do this? Who do we worship? There is ONE Savior. One Lord. One Jesus. We do not worship our technology. Our lives are devoted to Jesus Christ. The Son of the Living God. Jesus is the One who died for our sins. Jesus is the One who showed us what the Father’s business was all about. We must not get our priorities twisted. I preach every Sunday because Jesus saved me and wants to save the over 100,000 lost and hurting in our city. I am able to worship God the Father because Jesus forgave me. I am blessed because Jesus loved me before I ever loved Him. Jesus died on the cross. Jesus holds the keys to death, hell and the grave. Jesus wants my city to experience the same salvation He gave me.

I live for an audience of One. And I want the whole world to know how much He loves them. Jesus was about the numbers. Remember, you are a number to Him… a very, very, very important number. Don’t ever forget that.

We forgive you Ted Haggard

Ted Haggard at Elevation Church

This past Sunday, Pastor Steven Furtick hosted an interview with Ted and Gayle Haggard at Elevation Church.

I don’t usually weigh in on scandals and such. But I feel it is very important to let my voice be heard as a pastor and leader.

Ted was wrong. He sinned. He discgraced God, the church and the reputation of the Church.

I do not have any rocks in my pocket. I am not without sin. Neither are you.

Gayle forgave her husband.

God forgave him.

He has asked the church to forgive him.

Maybe it’s time the church stop throwing rocks and forgive.

Ted Haggard, I forgive you.

Gayle, thank you for being an example of forgiveness.

Watch the interview here.
