I’m sorry it’s been a while. I told Jen today that I have had major writer’s block. I realize it was August 31st the last time I blogged. Stepping into the role of senior pastor at ROCK Church has been a huge step for me. I feel like I have been so full of things to write about that I have been unable to focus on any of them.
I spent this last week in Washington, DC while Noah was at a World Leadership forum with People to People. I saw Noah each morning and then had the rest of the day to myself. I took advantage of this time by praying, listening to God and seeking His direction for our church.
I also took some time this week to shoot my first ever video sermon. They played it today while we were on the road back to Wilmington. I knew shooting this video would be pretty hard. I had no idea. Preaching to a camera, by yourself with no audience is insanely difficult. Carolyn told me she was worried about how I would do by myself with no audience. It was just me, a camera and Holy Spirit… and a bunch of obnoxious birds. I knew it was a big leap for us and I was really not sure if I was ready. But, there is only one way to really ever find out.
My team sent text messages throughout the service giving me an update of the crowd response. People laughed, talked back to the screen and there were several who were moved to tears because of what God was doing through the message. I have already received some good, constructive feedback from some of our team. I’m sure they will have more for me this week.
In all, about 10 people responded to the opportunity to give their lives to Christ! HOLY COW! Maybe I should preach all of my messages this way.
I dropped the video of today’s message in this post. If you are a pastor who has experience preaching to a camera, I welcome any feedback you can give me. In all, I believe God was gracious to us. He was mighty to save a whole bunch of people today at ROCK Church.

Well, you should have used makeup because you were looking a little pale. Also, maybe that would be a good idea to do it on video because we were out really early. We beat everyone to the restaurants. Just kidding, it was a good message and of course God did the rest.
Be safe.
