I’m still here

I’ve been negligent in my blogging recently. I would blame it on having 50 million things to do but that is a lame excuse. It’s probably not more than about 45 million anyway. So, here is a quick recap of the last couple weeks:

  • Memorial Day weekend is historically a very poorly attended service. Not this year! We had 405 people in our service! I love our ROCKERS!
  • Just finished the iServe series this past Sunday. We have had over 45 people request more information about serving! FORTY FIVE! God is doing something amazing around here.
  • The process of looking for our new Director of Worship & Creative Arts has been a very difficult and time consuming process. We want to know who God has for us. We have received a lot of applications. Out of those, we have talked to many very qualified applicants. We have observed styles and talked about philosophies. We are not done yet. We want who God wants. This is one of the hardest decision we have ever had to make. Keep praying for us.
  • Hey, Senior Pastors, will all of my decisions be this tough? Comment me and tell me it’s going to be OK.
  • There are 13 people signed up for the membership class this Sunday. If you want to be a part of it, give Lori a call at 602-5300×106 or email her at lori@rockwilmington.com.
  • There are 12 adults and a bunch of kids that are signed up for our next water baptism on June 29th at Wrightsville Beach. It’s going to be a ton of fun. If you want to be a part of it, let Lori know that too.
  • If you didn’t know, Matthew & Jen are getting married! They keep talking about wanting to move the date up! Who knows, they might just show up one Sunday with big, cheesy smiles on their face.
  • Have I said recently how much I love my team? They are amazing and freakishly committed to the vision of The ROCK. I love doing ministry with them.
  • Recently, this guy Twittered a deep truth at me that I can’t shake. Thanks Scotty!
  • One Prayer starts this Sunday! Don’t miss it. God is going to mess us all up. If you had only one prayer for the church, what would it be? Don’t go into super-spiritual, look at me. Really think about it. What would it be? God make us . Come Sunday and here what Pastor Ron’s one prayer would be.
  • The lights Sunday were insane! Carolyn and her team keep taking it up two and three notches at a time.
  • PC3 only has one more service at Roland Grise before they move in their new building. I am very excited for them. Can’t wait to see what God is about to do through Mike and his team.
  • Saw this guy and his wife at Romanelli’s on Sunday. I was so focused on the purpose of my lunch that I absolutely drew a blank.  I just smiled and waved as dad talked with you guys. Hey man, forgive me, I am such an idiot. I would love to go to lunch with you soon. I’m loving your blog.
  • There are going to be some announcements at The ROCK over the next few weeks that are going to be crazy!
  • I love my job. I love my church. I love my city and I am so looking forward to September 1.
  • I gotta go to sleep.
  1. jumped over here from oneprayer.com…awesome that the Rock in Wilmington is in on One Prayer…praying for the Rock, along with each church and pastor that is a part of this ground breaking series…blessings to you guys as you begin to minister in Wilmington and beyond!…

your dad’s comment blessed me and encouraged me, especially his statement on decisions, they are all important and his expression of love and belief in you!

  2. No, all of your decisions will not be tough, not even most of them; but they will all be important. We need wisdom, discernment, patience, bold faith and humility to make them all. All of these needed things are available to you and by them you have, are and will make right decisions. But you will always be human; knowing in part, prophesying in part and looking through a glass darkly, so when you err, all of those needed things will help you recognize the mistake and correct it.
You are a great leader with a big heart and a kind, gentle spirit. You were formed in your mother’s womb for this purpose and this is God’s time for you to lead this ministry and these wonderful people into a future that is greater than our past. I love you and believe in you.
