After the service this morning, we headed over to Nikki’s for Hibachi and sushi to celebrate. Mom, Dad and Terri joined us for good food and laughter.

Our chef was hilarious and a great cook. After all the prep, he was left with 6 small pieces of chicken on the grill.

So, he tried to toss it in Mom’s mouth… and missed.

Then he tossed one to Noah… and missed again.

Gabriel let him have a shot… and we were 0-3.

Terri looked like her mouth was big enough to hit… wrong again.

Jennifer let him throw chicken at her too… he missed (but I was nice enough to miss the photo).

Then Dad step up to the plate (I made a pun)… Chef squares off… He shoots… AND SCORES!

As we cheered Dad’s success, the chef said, “Keep your mouth open!” The excitement of the moment caused Dad to keep his mouth open and the chef proceeded to use a squirt bottle to fill it… with SAKE!

Dad was definitely not expecting that and I think throat was on fire. It was hilarious. I felt the only appropriate response was to buy everyone lunch. I told dad that I would buy lunch for him every time sake was involved. It’s only fair.

I love my family. I love laughing. I love unexpected surprises that catch us completely off guard. Man, today has been a great day.

What did you do today?
