I have a theory about why old dogs can’t learn new tricks. It’s not because they are old. I believe it is because they have an old mindset. They don’t want to learn the new tricks. Excuses like, “I’m too old” or “Only young people understand it” or “It’s not the same tricks we used to do” make you old, not your age.

It’s hard to learn a new trick if you stay on the front porch and just watch the young dogs do it. Eventually, you gotta jump off the porch and just do it.

I’ve met “old dogs” who were under 30 years old. I’ve met “young dogs” who were in their 70’s.

Age doesn’t make you old. Your mindset makes you old.

I plan to live fast and die young. It’s just that I’m gonna be well north of 80 years old when that glorious day comes.

So, here is my question… Learn any new tricks lately?
