I’m finishing up my prep to talk to our teens at FlipSide about The Game of Love. It is going to be awesome. Too often, church teens only hear messages about “How far is too far” or “Here is how to play with fire so that you may not get burned.”
Whenever I hear youth pastors talking about how to know how much physical affection is appropriate, I cringe. If they would only read the Bible for what it says. In I Corinthians 7, Paul says,
“It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.”
That word “touch” literally means don’t touch. It is the same greek word used here, here and here. Why is this? Every guy will agree that touching a girl he likes does something to him. Guys do not even have to touch a girl “sexually” to start having those feelings. Verse two says we should get married because of sexual immorality. The greek word is PORNEÍA, or fornication.
So, Paul said we should not touch a woman because it will make us want to make porn. Instead, we should get married…
This is going to be fun. I’ll post more later.
