holy promises

i waited and watched
wondering if i heard correctly
always believing
yet still a unsure
from frustration to elation
only to return again

but you promised
what i could not have dreamed on my own
it was bigger than me
so it had to be from you

long ago i grew tired
giving up evolved
from never
to unlikely
to maybe
to what if
but i never gave up
i will never give up
so i waited
watching
hoping

prayers turned to dreams
tears became sweat
now vision is becoming reality

the distant future
is now tomorrow
and anticipation
delivered this day
as expectancy defeats my slumber

so i wait to witness
another fulfillment
of a holy promise
